ABOUT

Burning Giraffe (Kent Macpherson) was born in New Zealand in 1967. The first ever live concert he witnessed was "Icehouse" at the Regent Theatre in Palmerston North.

The first instrument he played was the piano, followed by the cornet (shortlived) and then on to guitar and bass. Most of the instruments he uses now are electronic or computerised. His live performances now use home made soundwave generators.

His musical life was forever changed in 1981 when he heard "The Cure" for the first time. He completed his post graduate studies in contemporary music technology at Latrobe University in Melbourne, Australia (Where he now lives) in 1994.

He plays a variety of instruments including: Bass, Guitar, Saz, Sitar, Keyboards, Mandolin, Zither and Banjo. His work is published by BMG/Zomba (UK) & Beatbox/PMS (Sydney). He has performed live occasionally as Burning Giraffe since 1997 and also with the duo "Legs For Fish".

He has made four albums of experimental music as Burning Giraffe. These 4 albums "Flot", "Reality:Perfection", "A Blow to my Hardware" and "I am Method Music" work their way through the most dissonant rumblings known to speakers. Some of this work is called "Dark Ambient" in its genre.

The current work of BG is an amalgam of dub and noise. A somewhat bass heavy click scape. Gentle soundscapes gradually destroyed by noise. Drones and pops.
